About PolitiKool

PolitiKool covers what the most influential voices in American political media are actually saying — on podcasts, television and social media — because that is where the argument that shapes how Americans vote now happens, and much of it goes unreported. We quote it accurately, put it in context, and add the facts and the polling the quote leaves out.

Who runs it

PolitiKool was built and is run by a senior newsroom leader with a career in national news. It uses AI systems for transcription, drafting, research and checking, and says so at the bottom of every page. Those systems were trained and configured by veteran newsroom leaders, to the standards a good desk has always kept, and they work under close human oversight: the editor sets the rules every story must pass, chooses what we cover, reviews what we publish, and is accountable for all of it.

How a story is checked

Every piece passes through several independent layers of fact-checking before it can run. A story that cannot clear them does not run.

  • Quotations are verified against the recording, not just the transcript. A small mishearing is corrected; a line the recording does not bear out is cut.
  • Every name, date and figure is checked against a primary source, by more than one model, more than once, with the strictest read last.
  • What a host or guest says is checked, not censored. When the record disputes a claim made on a show, we keep the quote and add what the record shows.
  • What we say in our own voice must be confirmed. A fact that cannot be verified is removed, never softened.
  • News stories need two sources. A news story is written only when at least two trusted outlets report the same thing, and it is checked against both.

What we believe

Our ideology is free speech. American political argument is louder, stranger and more genuinely diverse than the coverage of it admits, and the useful thing a news organization can do is show you that argument as it actually sounds. We publish views we find persuasive and views we do not. We owe you the context; what you do with it is your business.

Corrections

We will make mistakes; everyone who publishes daily does. Every correction a reader sends is reviewed by the editor against the record. When we got it wrong, we fix the piece, note the correction on it, and thank the reader. When the record supports what we wrote, it stands. Every correction is listed on our corrections page.

Polling and images

Our polling averages combine every public poll we can find, weighted by recency, sample size and sponsorship, and refresh daily; when we cite one, we link to it. Lead illustrations are made in PolitiKool’s own screen-print style with AI image tools, labeled on every article, and never presented as photographs. Where a photograph appears it is public-domain or Creative Commons work, credited.
