How this political quiz works

Each statement is answered on a five-point scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. Each of the seven camps has an expected answer to every statement, drawn from what its politicians and its voters actually say. Your answers are compared with all seven, the closest camp is your result, and the match percentage says how close. The runner-up is shown too, because most people sit between two camps rather than squarely in one. “Not sure” counts as the middle answer, which pulls you toward the camps that are themselves divided on that question. A statement you leave blank is left out for every camp alike.

The seven political camps

Democratic Socialist

Left of the Democratic Party and often at odds with it: public ownership over private markets, Medicare for All, an end to military aid to Israel, and deep suspicion of both parties' donors.

Progressive

The Democratic Party's left flank: big public programs inside a market economy, aggressive climate policy, strong gun laws, and a fight with corporate power rather than with capitalism itself.

Moderate Democrat

Center-left and incremental: expand what works, keep private insurance and markets, back the police and the alliances, and win by not scaring the middle.

Independent

Owned by neither party and suspicious of both: pro free speech and anti-censorship, against foreign wars, for legal marijuana and term limits, distrustful of the media and the intelligence agencies, liberal on some social questions and conservative on others, and ready to vote for a third party.

Moderate Republican

Center-right and institutional: lower taxes and lighter regulation, a strong military and NATO, tough on the border but open to legal immigration, uneasy with the populist turn.

America First

Nationalist and populist: no foreign wars, no aid to Israel, far less immigration of every kind, tariffs, and a deep distrust of the intelligence agencies and the elites of both parties, including when the president sides with them.

MAGA

The president's coalition: whatever he does, from tariffs and mass deportation to striking Iran, is the program. Pro-police, pro-Israel, against the 2020 result, and loyal first.

Is this quiz accurate?

It is a map of where your views fall relative to the American political debate of 2026, not a verdict on how you vote. The statements were chosen because the camps genuinely disagree about them; a statement everyone agrees with would tell you nothing. Answer forty and the reading is reliable; answer ten and it is a sketch. PolitiKool publishes polling averages and race ratings for every major 2026 contest if you want to see where the country stands.
