Dem who ripped rival’s donor-fueled 'good life' dropped campaign cash on Disney, spouse travel

Representative Vicente Gonzalez, a Texas Democrat, is facing scrutiny over his own campaign spending after he accused a Republican opponent of enjoying a comfortable life on donor money. Fox News Digital reviewed his campaign records and found close to $20,000 in outlays that coincided with trips he took with his wife, domestic and overseas.

In October 2025, Gonzalez took a shot at Mayra Flores over Disney World charges on her campaign's books. Yet his campaign had paid the Florida resort and theme park more than $1,100 around the time he posted pictures from a two-day stay there in April with his wife and several associates. Fox News Digital also reports that the campaign logged thousands of dollars at upscale restaurants and hotels in Washington, Texas, California and Europe, including a Michelin-starred meal in Zurich.

The largest item was a 2024 journey to the United Arab Emirates, where more than $13,000 went to airfare and lodging. Gonzalez labeled his photos from it an "after campaign break," and they show him and his wife sightseeing and a beachfront luxury hotel room.
