Democrat who went viral for ‘drunk’ interview zings Trump official when asked if she’ll quit drinking if elected

Jaime West, a Democrat seeking a seat on the Fayette County Council in Indiana, has drawn fresh attention after a televised local interview in which she appeared intoxicated and combative. She became a viral figure for that appearance, where she told Republicans "we have guns too." She has since gone on Piers Morgan Uncensored to defend herself, saying she had consumed just three beers beforehand, according to The Independent.

The host asked whether she would give up alcohol if her long-shot campaign succeeded. West deflected by pointing at Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, suggesting that Morgan put the question to him instead. She accused Hegseth of drinking whiskey while directing a war she called illegal.

The exchange did not go unchallenged. Morgan and fellow guest Ben Ferguson responded that Hegseth had pledged to abstain from alcohol for as long as he serves in President Donald Trump's cabinet. West's jab thus drew an immediate correction on air, and her answer on her own drinking remained unresolved.
