Fox News Poll: Cost of living concerns weigh on GOP in midterms
Voters are sour on both the economy and the president only weeks before the midterms, a new Fox News survey finds, putting Republicans in a vulnerable spot. Trump's overall approval has dropped to 36%, the lowest the network has recorded in either of his terms, after holding at 39% since May. Among Republicans it is 76%, which is 16 points below where it stood in March 2025. Falling support is concentrated among people under 45, households earning under $50,000, non-White voters and those without college degrees.
Rising prices are the dominant worry: six in 10 name the cost of living as their chief economic concern, far ahead of government spending at 15%. Three-quarters give the economy negative marks, 53% expect it to deteriorate next year, and only 18% say their family has improved its position over two years. Inflation is Trump's weakest subject, with 22% approving, down from 36% last summer. Disapproval reaches 77% on prices, 70% on the economy and 64% on foreign policy. Border security alone is split evenly, 50% to 50%.
Looking ahead to November, seven in 10 voters describe their ballot as a signal to the president.
