Jimmy Kimmel on Trump’s midterms mindset: ‘If his side wins, elections were honest’

Late-night hosts spent Tuesday mocking the Republican approach to next week's midterm elections and a controversy around the president's eldest son. Jimmy Kimmel noted that Donald Trump, asked whether he would honor the election results, said he would if the elections are honest. Kimmel interpreted that as meaning any Republican win counts as honest and any loss does not. He also pointed to plans for Trump's justice department to send thousands of employees to observe poll workers during vote counting, and to Trump's offer of $5,000 to people who vote Republican, which Kimmel found at odds with GOP accusations of Democratic cheating, according to The Guardian.

Kimmel also covered Donald Trump Jr. and Umar Kremlev, a Russian oligarch who helped cover the cost of a rented private island and fireworks for the younger Trump's May wedding in the Bahamas. A new report says the two traveled to Mongolia in August, where Trump Jr. shot an Altai argali, an endangered sheep. Kimmel said a close friend of Vladimir Putin socializing with a president's son raises counter-intelligence worries.
