Migrant Caravan Bets On Democrat Victory To Loosen Trump’s Border Crackdown

Latest News DAILY CALLER POLITIKOOL · LATEST NEWS

A new group of Honduran migrants set out for the United States on Election Day, betting that a stronger Democratic showing in Congress will make President Donald Trump's tough border policies harder to sustain. Latin Times reports that dozens left San Pedro Sula, in northern Honduras, on November 3, the third such caravan from the country since September. Organizers are said to have relied on WhatsApp groups and TikTok videos to share departure times and routes and to flag approaching police or soldiers, according to Daily Caller.

Many participants told the outlet they expected a Democratic-led Congress to create uncertainty at the border or to block new restrictions. The Trump administration has not softened its stance. U.S. Embassy officials have cautioned people against making the trip and have said caravan organizers could lose their visas.

Migrants also described conditions at home as a reason to go. Honduras records 24 killings per 100,000 residents, roughly four times the worldwide average, and extortion by transnational criminal groups has made basic living costs unmanageable for many. Jimena Morazán, 47, who joined with five relatives, said her country has left people with nothing.
