Ohio Democrat candidate looking to flip House seat says people are ‘ready for change’

Brian Poindexter, the Democrat challenging Republican Representative Max Miller in Ohio, said on Meet the Press NOW that voters in the district want a different direction. The interview aired October 26, 2026, with eight days left before Election Day, and gave Poindexter a national platform as he tries to take a House seat from the GOP, according to NBC News.

Poindexter spoke with the program about where the contest stands as the campaign enters its closing stretch. He was also asked whether he would back impeachment efforts aimed at President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth, a question that puts him on record about a divisive issue in the final days before voters decide.

The same broadcast page lists a range of other midterm coverage. Among the items are a Republican House candidate who also hopes to win an Ohio seat and says momentum for change is building, the Cook Political Report shifting 11 House races toward Democrats, and a forecaster moving an Ohio race away from Republicans. Other segments touch on Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton, whose estranged mother appeared in an ad, and on a Justice Department lawsuit against California over alleged noncitizen voters.
