Teen Accused Of Plotting To Kill GOP Congressman, Launch ISIS Terror Attack

Latest News DAILY WIRE POLITIKOOL · LATEST NEWS

Federal authorities are holding a teenager from McKinney, Texas, who they say intended to murder Republican Congressman Keith Self during an October 17 appearance and to stage an ISIS-inspired assault elsewhere in North Texas. The suspect is 17, and officials have not released his name or said why Self was singled out, according to Daily Wire.

WFAA, Dallas's ABC affiliate, reports that police arrested the boy on October 5, after he obtained a gun. Unnamed sources told the station he had recently adopted extremist views and that federal agents were already watching him.

Self said he could not prove his politics were the reason, but that an ISIS link made it hard to believe otherwise. Last month he put forward a resolution condemning Sharia, and he cofounded a caucus with fellow Texas Republican Chip Roy that opposes Sharia's influence in America. He praised law enforcement and said he is undeterred, pointing to his 25 years of military service.

Evan Hunt, the Democrat running against Self in November, denounced the alleged scheme, said disputes belong in debate and at the ballot box, and thanked the FBI and other officers for protecting public servants.
