Trump gets the Zelda treatment as White House tries to convince the world he is still working after midterms

The White House posted a Legend of Zelda-style video on Thursday showing Donald Trump as a game hero, wearing a cap reading "Still your president." It came two days after Democrats took control of both the House and the Senate in the midterm elections, including wins in battleground states such as Texas and Iowa. The Independent reports that the White House has since filled its social media feeds with defiant messages, among them a Wednesday post declaring that Trump remains president and another urging "never surrender."

The animation credits the administration with lower prescription drug prices, a murder rate at a 125-year low, and no illegal immigrants released into the country for 17 months running. It ends with the president at the Resolute Desk signing documents. Online reaction was largely scornful, with some users urging Nintendo to sue. The Independent says it was unclear whether Nintendo approved the use, or whether artificial intelligence made the clip, and it has asked both Nintendo and the White House for comment.
