Trump Media debuts first national television ad during college basketball game in Rome

Trump Media & Technology Group, the company that runs Truth Social, will air its first 30-second national television commercial on Sunday. The spot will run during a Villanova–Notre Dame basketball matchup in Rome, a chance for the company to court faith-minded viewers and audiences abroad. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn says the aim is to carry American viewpoints overseas and bring foreign voices back to U.S. audiences, according to Fox Business.

The commercial is slotted into the Eternal City Tip-Off, a doubleheader featuring both schools' men's and women's squads. Two Catholic universities meet in the Italian capital because of Pope Leo XIV, who is a Villanova graduate and the first pope born in America. McGurn described the occasion as a feel-good story and a fitting stage for an advertising debut, noting the Vatican's involvement.

McGurn also pointed to the company's religious offerings, including the Catholic History Channel, Catholic Stream and Catholic Herald, which he says have found an audience on Truth Social and its streaming service, Truth+. Truth+ carries upwards of 50 channels, he said, mixing conservative news and faith programming with movies, television and sports. He framed the service as an entertainment destination whose content choices follow what Truth Social users are discussing.
