Trump Trashes Bill Maher After Promising Not To Be Mean

President Donald Trump used a long Truth Social post on Sunday to attack HBO host Bill Maher, even though Maher said Trump had agreed beforehand not to say unkind things about him. Trump called the comedian a loser and a liar, mocked his show's ratings, and suggested that the audience laughter on it is artificial, according to Daily Wire · The Guardian.

The outburst followed Trump's recent White House dinner with Maher, Kid Rock and Stephen A. Smith, and came shortly after former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was a guest on Maher's program Friday night. Trump said Maher's friend Chuck LaBella, a former Apprentice gofer, had pushed for the meetings, which he said produced two dinners. He disputed Maher's claim that one ran four hours, saying it lasted two at most, and claimed he learned nothing. He also accused Maher of drinking and using marijuana.

Trump rejected Maher's statements about his approval, citing CNN polling that he said put him at 98 and 99 percent support among Republicans, against 86 percent for Ronald Reagan. He praised Leavitt's performance but said she faced a biased host, and he told Maher to stop calling.
