WATCH LIVE: At Georgia governor debate, Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms set to answer questions solo

Georgia's Democratic nominee for governor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, is scheduled to appear alone at a live debate Monday night after her Republican rival, Rick Jackson, chose not to participate. Journalists will pose the questions to her, and the session gets underway at 8 p.m. EDT, according to PBS NewsHour.

Georgia Public Broadcasting and the Atlanta Press Club are behind the event, which viewers can follow live online. The two candidates already met onstage last week for the only debate that had been scheduled. Jackson's decision means voters will hear from only one candidate at this event.

Before seeking the governorship, Bottoms ran Atlanta as its mayor. Jackson, for his part, is a billionaire executive in healthcare. Voters in 36 states are choosing governors this midterm cycle, Georgia among them. Forecasters at the Cook Political Report, with Amy Walter, currently place the matchup in the toss-up column.
