WATCH LIVE: Trump delivers last pitch before midterms at Reflecting Pool, site of botched renovation

President Donald Trump planned to make his final appeal to midterm voters on Election Eve from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, a spot synonymous with his troubled renovation effort. PBS NewsHour · The Independent and The Independent report that the 2 p.m. Eastern speech replaces more campaigning in swing territory, just after a stretch of more than 25 rallies, according to PBS NewsHour. The Independent says a White House official told Axios that Trump wants to promote his work refurbishing landmarks around the capital, and that he also has nine telerallies scheduled.

The pool's repairs finished almost three months late, PBS NewsHour reports, at more than ten times the roughly $1.5 million Trump first projected. The Independent puts the cost at $14 million. Both describe a blue liner that peeled and algae that fouled the water. Trump still says vandals did the damage, but PBS NewsHour notes that U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro's office blamed poor workmanship, and the Justice Department dropped its case against former Olympian David Hearn.

The Independent adds that over 50 million Americans have already voted, and that Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens endorsed Republican Mike Rogers over Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan's Senate race.
