Young men helped elect Trump. Now many say they feel ‘betrayed.’

Latest News MS NOW POLITIKOOL · LATEST NEWS

Young men who helped put Donald Trump back in office are souring on him just before the midterms, and some are moving toward Democrats while others may skip voting entirely. MS NOW reports that men aged 18 to 29 now favor Democrats by a single point in a New York Times/Siena University poll, after 55% of them backed Trump in 2024. Just 16% approve of his performance, and 87% of young voters oppose the war with Iran, the highest share of any age group.

In interviews across five battleground states, former Trump voters blamed rising living costs, the war, fuel prices and the administration's support for artificial intelligence infrastructure. AAA data show regular gas is 40% pricier than a year ago. Joe Tintori, 22, a Florida Republican, plans to back Democrat David Jolly for governor and said he feels "betrayed." In Iowa, Kameron Zeka, also 22, is choosing Democrats Rob Sand and Josh Turek. Adam Adkins, 24, of Ohio, said paying child support is a daily struggle. Ryan Boyer of Alaska would undo his 2024 vote, and Luke Coltson of Michigan would have sat out the presidential race.
