Jennifer Welch: Democrats 'Don't Have a National Plan,' So She Has One

On Election Day, a podcast host pitched her own fix: a 'blue dot' plan to turn red districts pink, then purple, over several elections.

Jennifer Welch, co-host of the I've Had It podcast, said on Election Day that the Democratic Party has no national plan. It was a short shot at her own side, and she followed it right away with her own plan: win back red states one district at a time.

The remark came in an episode released Tuesday as voters went to the polls in the midterm elections that will decide control of the House and Senate. Welch and co-host Angie "Pumps" Sullivan spent most of the episode on marriage banter and listener videos, with a segment mocking Trump and Republicans and some election-day appeals to vote. The criticism of Democrats took one sentence.

Jennifer Welch Pitches a 'Blue Dot' Plan

Welch made the comment after the show's executive producer read a review from a Texas listener working the polls during early voting. The listener described Democrats there as blue dots in a sea of red.

"Here is the plan because the Democrats don't have a national plan, but we're gonna start a blue dot plan," Welch said.

She joked that the effort would be the show's PAC, "the blue dot big titty committee." Then she laid out a timeline in which red districts turn pink, then purple, then light blue, then fully blue.

It was an aside, not a sustained critique, and the hosts ended the episode rooting for their party. Welch asked listeners to send "celebratory videos because we have to be celebrating tonight," and Sullivan signed off: "we will see you all soon, hopefully with a democratic majority."

What Democrats Ran On in 2026

House Democrats did put an agenda on paper. On July 26, 100 days before the election, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries launched a "Fighting for an Affordable America" agenda in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It focused on the cost of groceries, gas, housing and health care, and also promised a ban on stock trading by members of Congress and the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, Al Jazeera reported.

In October, House Democrats sketched out a plan for their first 100 days in the majority. It included restoring Affordable Care Act tax credits that expired in 2025, reversing Trump's tariffs and investigating the administration, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

"Fighting for an affordable America — that's what unites Democrats all across the country," Jeffries said.

That agenda came from House Democrats, though, not from the party as a whole.

Polling on Whether Democrats Have a Plan

More than a year earlier, voters were doubtful. In a Fox News poll conducted July 18-21, 2025, 33 percent of voters said Democrats had a clear plan for the country, compared with 43 percent who said the same of Republicans. Sixty-four percent said Democrats did not have one.

The party's image is still weak. In PolitiKool's polling average, 39.3 percent of Americans view Democrats favorably and 58.3 percent unfavorably. Republicans do worse, at 35.8 percent favorable and 60.9 percent unfavorable in PolitiKool's polling average.

That has not stopped Democrats from leading the ballot. They are ahead on the generic congressional ballot 50.7 percent to 41.8 percent, a margin of 8.9 points, in PolitiKool's polling average.

How Red Oklahoma Looks Statewide

Oklahoma, whose politicians the hosts criticized in the episode, shows how hard turning red territory pink can be. Republican Rep. Kevin Hern leads Democrat N'Kiyla Jasmine Thomas by 24 points in the state's Senate race, according to PolitiKool's polling average. The governor's race is closer: Republican Mike Mazzei leads Democrat Cyndi Munson by 5.5 points in PolitiKool's polling average.

What Happens Next

The first results come in after polls close Tuesday night. Welch's plan, by her own description, is measured in election cycles, not one night.
