In the footage, he promised to keep fighting for transgender youth in the Senate and said participation rules for sports should be set locally, case by case. The measure would have tied school athletes' teams to the sex on their birth certificates, and it cleared the committee 8-5 with Talarico among the five dissenters.

Pfluger added that Talarico's stance on oil and gas has not shifted either. He also criticized Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed. Early voting in Texas runs through October 30.
