Jetmaker Bombardier doubles down on US investment in deal touted by Trump

Latest News FOX BUSINESS POLITIKOOL · LATEST NEWS

Bombardier, the Canadian business-jet manufacturer, has committed to a larger American workforce, announcing Friday that it will hire 800 people and put an initial $270 million into infrastructure. The move follows President Donald Trump's demand in September that the company stop selling aircraft in the U.S. unless it builds them here. Trump publicized the investment on Truth Social, crediting Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas, according to Fox Business.

According to a release obtained by Fox Business, 500 of the jobs are open now, while the other 300 will come from expansion projects. Kansas, where the company is based, will see hiring alongside Indiana and Connecticut, and Texas is slated to be the next major growth site, taking 150 of the 300 new positions. Chief executive Eric Martel said talks with the administration had been constructive and pointed to a positive climate for more investment.

Already in place are a Wichita learning center that opened last week and a Fort Wayne, Indiana, service facility of roughly 64,500 square feet that can hold six aircraft. Across 2025, Bombardier's U.S. activity underpinned 27,200 jobs, and it put $2.8 billion toward suppliers.
