Katie Miller is already spreading election conspiracies as polling site issues are reported in New York

Latest News THE INDEPENDENT POLITIKOOL · LATEST NEWS

Katie Miller, wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, drew heavy criticism on Tuesday for promoting an unfounded claim of election theft after scanner malfunctions were reported at polling sites in Westchester County, New York. County officials acknowledged the equipment problems, including ballots that were not scanning properly, and promised that all votes would be tallied, according to The Independent.

Miller amplified a post by a voter identified as Ben Hort, who said the machines were down countywide and that he had been told to return later. She wrote that the Left was turning away voters in the competitive district of Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, who is facing Democrat Cait Conley. Hort later clarified that a poll worker had misspoken about absentee voting and that he did not feel turned away. The post drew more than 400,000 views.

Critics, including activist Amy Siskind, journalist Tim Alberta and Semafor's Ben Smith, replied that Westchester is the most Democratic part of the district, and Alberta noted Kamala Harris won the county by 26 points. County Executive Ken Jenkins called the situation unacceptable, said lawyers were monitoring the process, and announced that a bipartisan group would examine the failures once the machines are fixed.
