Poll: Majority of Americans say Trump prioritizes his personal financial interests over U.S. as a whole

A new AP-NORC poll finds most Americans think President Donald Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself, whether unethically or unlawfully. About 6 in 10 adults hold that view, while about 2 in 10 see no wrongdoing and a similar share are unsure. Trump's family business is meanwhile collecting record income from ventures his policies have aided, according to PBS NewsHour.

Fifty-six percent say Trump has stressed his own businesses a lot since returning to office, and 54% say so of his friends' and relatives' interests, whereas only about a quarter say the country gets that emphasis and about 1 in 10 say people like them do. About 4 in 10 call his conduct illegal, including roughly 8 in 10 Democrats, about 3 in 10 independents and 1 in 10 Republicans. Most Republicans see nothing wrong or are unsure.

The White House calls the accusations a fake problem. Oscar Delgado, a Michigan factory worker who voted for Trump in 2024, says the president is "turning greedy," while Republican Audra Pelsue of New York says Trump's family has probably benefited but he has not.
