‘Shut Up’: Dem Snaps At Susan Collins In Fiery Maine Senate Debate

Daily Wire · PBS NewsHour, PBS NewsHour and Fox News report that the final Maine Senate debate, held Thursday in Bangor, turned sharp when a heckler's outburst led Democratic challenger Troy Jackson to tell Republican Sen. Susan Collins to "shut up." Fox News says Democrats view the seat as a top chance to flip.

The heckler yelled that AI data centers were damaging the climate and water. Collins said he was plainly a Jackson backer; Jackson answered that he did not know the young man. Fox News adds that the protester also questioned Collins' three decades in office, and that Jackson later asked whether she looks down on working-class people. She replied that she grew up in Caribou and her first job was picking potatoes.

Daily Wire · PBS NewsHour puts Jackson ahead by 1.3 percentage points in the RealClearPolitics average. Fox News says polls show a race within the margin of error, rated a toss-up by the Cook Political Report among others. PBS NewsHour notes Collins seeks a sixth term, and that Jackson became nominee after Graham Platner dropped out amid sexual misconduct allegations.
