Trump rallies in city where alleged MS-13 ‘assassination squad’ leader was busted

President Donald Trump travels to Grand Island, Nebraska, on Monday for a rally supporting Republican candidates, part of a multistate push before the midterm elections. Sen. Pete Ricketts and Gov. Jim Pillen are scheduled to appear with him. The city, roughly 150 miles from Omaha, became a focus of national attention last year when federal authorities arrested a man accused of leading an MS-13 assassination squad there, according to Fox News.

The man is Gerson Emir Cuadra Soto, 33, nicknamed "Fantasma." Authorities say he ran a group called "El Combo," and he faces four homicide charges in Honduras. Honduran officials link him to a July 2022 attack outside a Tegucigalpa nightclub in which four men died, one of them Said Lobo Bonilla, whose father is former Honduran President Porfirio Lobo Sosa. A federal affidavit, now unsealed, says Cuadra Soto left Honduras after the killings, and that he and two co-defendants had earlier walked free from local custody after $125,000 in bribes reached government officials.

White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital that his case illustrates Trump's removal of criminals from Nebraska, and accused Democrats of wanting to abolish ICE.
