Trump rally crowd chants 'deport' as president rips Ilhan Omar after federal raid

Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C., home of Representative Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, early Monday, and that evening President Donald Trump used a campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio, to attack the congresswoman and Minnesota's Somali community. As Trump spoke, the audience began chanting "deport.", according to Fox News.

Fox News Digital reports, citing two sources close to the inquiry, that the Homeland Security Investigations operation grew out of a criminal fraud probe involving immigration paperwork that Omar's late father completed. Border czar Homan has confirmed a criminal investigation exists, while Omar denies having been contacted by federal authorities.

Trump described Omar as a disaster from a lawless country and asserted that Somali immigrants are capable of little besides violence against one another. He also pointed to gang members who fired shots at a Minnesota high school homecoming event last week, and to an FBI arrest of a different Somali immigrant accused of plotting an ISIS-style attack on the Mall of America. Omar had said at a press conference Wednesday that Trump bears blame for death threats and assaults aimed at them.
