Trump vanishes from GOP senator's campaign website as poll numbers plunge weeks before election

Sen. Mike Rounds, a South Dakota Republican seeking re-election, has quietly trimmed references to President Donald Trump from his campaign website, according to an earlier version of the site reviewed by Fox News Digital. The change fits a broader pattern of GOP candidates creating distance from the president as Election Day approaches and his standing with voters slides.

The homepage once carried two Trump mentions: a banner saying Rounds was endorsed by the president, and a photo caption repeating that claim. Both are gone. On the Issues page, the president no longer appears in the Put America First section or the Education section. A Fox News poll last month put Trump's approval at 39%, with the cost of living, grocery and fuel prices, and the war in Iran weighing on respondents.

Rounds' campaign advisor, Rob Skjonsberg, said the endorsement remains highly visible in the senator's announcement video on the site, and called a shift toward general election messaging unremarkable. Trump endorsed Rounds last year, praising him on Truth Social as someone who "will never let you down."
