LARRY KUDLOW: Don’t count the GOP out yet
Larry Kudlow argues that Republicans remain well placed to keep control of the Senate in the midterms, even though much press coverage points the other way. Looking at the Real Clear Politics polling average, he sees seven toss-up contests inside the margin of error, a tie in Kansas, a large Republican lead in Florida and a Democratic lead in Georgia. A Real Clear Politics analyst likewise sees a real Republican path, since four wins among eight competitive states would suffice, according to Fox Business.
Kudlow predicts wins for Senator Roger Marshall in Kansas, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson in Iowa, Senator Jon Husted in Ohio and Senator Susan Collins in Maine. He also expects Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to defeat James Talarico, and Michele Tafoya to beat Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota. He rejects the idea that Michigan will back Abdul El-Sayed, whom he labels a socialist favoring Medicare for All, a plan he says would cost more than $50 trillion and take away employer coverage.
The House is tougher, he says, but Trump and the GOP can still do well by staying on message for the final 19 days.
