Trump Serves Up ‘Talafreako’ Roast When Asked About Steak

Asked by a News Channel Nebraska reporter which cut of steak he prefers, President Donald Trump pivoted to mocking Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico, whom he called "Talafreako." Trump said he likes every cut, then claimed Talarico is a vegan who suddenly eats steak and gets sick afterward. The jab matters because Talarico faces Republican nominee Ken Paxton in the Texas Senate race, and Paxton has also mocked him over the diet with a nickname of his own, according to Daily Wire.

Daily Wire reports the attacks trace to a 2022 video in which Talarico said his campaign was going non-meat, citing morality and climate change, and would buy only vegan products from local vegan businesses. Talarico denies being vegan and says the campaign's purchasing policy says nothing about what he personally eats. At a rally he said being called a vegan is an insult in Texas. The Democratic National Committee's X account posted a photo of him eating barbecue.

Trump also backed Paxton at a Texas rally last week, saying America needs him badly and that Paxton stood by him more than anyone when his opponents on the left were hitting him hard.
