Per PBS NewsHour, Republicans are spending heavily on Senate contests in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa because of worries about turnout. In Kansas, Senator Roger Marshall faces Democrat Adam Hamilton, even though Trump carried the state by 16 points in 2024 and Democrats have not taken a Senate seat there in 94 years, according to PBS NewsHour · The Guardian.

Glenn Brunkow, a fifth-generation farmer who leads the Kansas Farm Bureau, said harvest is the busiest stretch of the year and that costs are hitting from every side. He doubts the strain will push Republican farmers toward Democrats but believes it could keep some home on Election Day. AAA put the national diesel average at $6. 30 per gallon, over 70% above last year. The Department of Agriculture forecasts farm income dropping 2. 6%, with overall expenses up 4. 5% and fuel and oil costs rising nearly 30%.
