Sean Hannity Predicts Democrats 'Will Impeach' Donald Trump If They Win House
The Fox News host told Bill O'Reilly that impeachment would be an overreach Republicans could run against in 2028.

Fox News host Sean Hannity said Wednesday that if Democrats take the House, it will impeach President Donald Trump. He called the prospect an overreach that Republicans could campaign against in 2028.
Hannity made the prediction on The Sean Hannity Show while talking with Bill O'Reilly, the former Fox News host, 13 days before the November 3 midterm elections. O'Reilly forecast that "the Senate will probably stay with the Republicans, and the House will flip to the Democrats." Hannity then said what he expected a Democratic House to do: impeach Trump.
"Now, I would determine that that would be a big victory for them. Not a total victory, but a huge win, and that would certainly ease or be a backstop towards the Democrats' radicalism," Hannity said of a Republican Senate, "because the House will impeach him. The House will overreach. In one aspect, that will probably be good, because Republicans will run against that in '28."
Hannity did not criticize Trump in the exchange. He presented a Republican Senate as the check on a Democratic House. Earlier in the segment, he argued that Trump deserves more credit for economic gains.
Hannity's Senate Map Leans on Close Races
Hannity said he expected Republicans to keep the Senate, but he acknowledged that they are fighting in states the party usually counts on. "I don't like that Republicans have to fight so hard in Texas, Ohio, Kansas, and places like that, and Alaska," he said.
The ratings show why he is worried. In August, the Cook Political Report called the Texas race between Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton a toss-up. Democratic candidates lead PolitiKool's polling averages in Texas by 4 points, in Ohio by 3.1, in Alaska by 3.4 and in Kansas by 1.8.
Hannity also said that "the Cook Report says that Minnesota leans Republican." On Tuesday, Cook moved the race between Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Republican Michele Tafoya from Likely Democrat to Lean Democrat, not to Lean Republican. Flanagan leads PolitiKool's polling average by 3.8 points.
Democratic candidate's lead in PolitiKool's polling averages as of Oct. 21, 2026; every margin is within a few points.

PolitiKool's Senate forecast rates control of the chamber a toss-up, with eight toss-up races. Texas Senator Ted Cruz has warned of a worst-case scenario in which Republicans lose every competitive race and end up with 45 seats, a message aimed at motivating turnout rather than a forecast.
The House Outlook Behind the Impeachment Prediction
Hannity's House forecast matches the polling. Democrats lead PolitiKool's generic-ballot average 48.9 percent to 40.5 percent.
Hannity said he does not trust the polls. On paper, it's very close," he told listeners. Two days earlier, he had said he had no feel for how the midterms would turn out.
What Democrats Have Said About Impeachment
Democratic leaders have not gone as far as Hannity's prediction. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York said on September 17 that "we haven't ruled anything out when it comes to all of the tools available to us to hold people accountable, and we haven't ruled anything in," Colorado Politics reported. In a statement, Democratic leaders said impeachment would require "a comprehensive investigative process."
The Democratic caucus is divided on the question. That same week, Representative Al Green, a Texas Democrat, pushed an impeachment effort over immigration enforcement. Eighteen House Democrats voted with Republicans to block it, and Democratic leaders voted "present."
The House has impeached a president four times: Andrew Johnson in 1868, Bill Clinton in 1998 and Trump in 2019 and 2021. The Senate acquitted each of them.
What To Watch
The Senate races Hannity worried about in Texas, Ohio, Kansas and Alaska remain within a few points. If Democrats take the House, it will come down to whether Jeffries keeps impeachment as an option or acts on it. Hannity said the House "will impeach him."
"Review of coming attractions, Mr. O'Reilly," Hannity said after O'Reilly warned of unrest. "Sadly, I hope we're wrong."
